Chamundeshwari Temple

మైసూరు రాజుల కులదేవతగా పూజలందుకుంటూన్న చాముండేశ్వరి దేవి ఆలయం మైసూరుకు 13 కిమీ దూరం లో ఉన్న కొండపై ఉన్నది. కర్ణాటక యాత్ర చెయ్యబోయేవారు తప్పకుండా చూడవల్సిన ఆలయాల్లో చాముండేశ్వరి ఆలయం ఒకటి.

మనం ముస్లిం పాలకులు హిందూ దేవాలయాలపై దాడి చెయ్యడమే ఎక్కువగా వింటాం, కానీ చాముండేశ్వరి ఆలయం లో మాత్రం అమ్మవారికి కానుకలు సమర్పించారు. హైదర్ ఆలీ ఆయన కుమారుడు టిప్పు సుల్తాన్ ఇద్దరు కూడా అమ్మవారికి ఆభరణాలు, వస్త్రాలు సమర్పించారు. 
12 వ శతాబ్దం లో అమ్మవారి ఆలయాన్ని హోయసల పాలకులు నిర్మించారని భావిస్తారు. అమ్మవారి కొండ ఎక్కడానికి సుమారు 3000 మెట్లున్నాయి. మనకి మెట్లు ఎక్కుతున్నప్పుడు మధ్యలో  15 అడుగుల ఎత్తైన నంది విగ్రహం కనిపిస్తుంది. 

నవరాత్రి ఉత్సవాలు కనులపండుగుగా నిర్వహిస్తారు. ఆ రోజుల్లో అమ్మవారికి రాజులు బహుకరించిన ప్రత్యేక  ఆభరణాలతో అలంకరిస్తారు. అమ్మవారికి అలంకరించే ఆభరణాలు చాలా విలువైనవి. ఇప్పడికి వాటి విలువ కట్టలేదు.
