What is Tiruppavada Seva in Tirumala?
Tiruppavada Seva is a special ritual performed every Thursday at the Tirumala temple, during which unique offerings and decorations are made to Lord Venkateswara.
When is Tiruppavada Seva performed?
This seva is performed every Thursday.
What happens during Tiruppavada Seva?
Lord’s Appearance:
The divine ornaments and sacred markings (Tirunamam) on the Lord’s forehead are reduced.
This allows devotees to have a unique darshan of the Lord’s eyes, which are adorned with a distinct decoration.
Alankaram (Decoration):
After the evening Poolangi Seva (decoration with flowers), the Lord is adorned only with floral decorations.
Special Offerings:
A large mound of Pulihora (tamarind rice) is placed before the Lord. Additional offerings such as jalebi, coconut and appam (sweet dishes) are also made.
Why is Pulihora placed before the Lord?
The Lord’s eyes are believed to emit an intense, divine gaze that common people may find difficult to endure. Placing Pulihora before the Lord helps to absorb this intensity.
This also symbolizes nourishment for all living beings, as the offerings are later distributed as prasadam.

The ticket price is ₹850 per person.
