తిరుమల యాత్ర లో భాగంగా తప్పకుండా చూడాల్సిన వాటిలో కపిలతీర్థం ప్రధానమైనది. కపిల మహర్షి పేరుమీదుగా మనం ఇప్పుడు పిలుచుకుంటున్నాం . ఒకప్పుడు శివలింగం పాతాళం నుంచి పెరుగుతూ భూమిని చీల్చుకుని పైకి రాగ మునీశ్వరులు గుర్తించి తపస్సు చేసారు . కపిలమహర్షి తొలిగా శివలింగానికి పూజలు చేసారు , మహాలింగం తో పాటుగా పాతాళలోకం లోని భోగవతి గంగ కూడా భూమి మీదకు ఉబికి పుష్కరిణిగా మారింది.
వర్షం కాలం లో కొండపైనుంచి వర్షంపు నీరు పుష్కరిణిలోకి వచ్చే దృశ్యం అద్భుతం గా ఉంటుంది. కపిల తీర్ధం చేరుకోవలంటే తిరుపతి రైల్వే స్టేషన్ నుంచి ఆటో లు కలవు , శ్రీవారి మెట్లు , అలిపిరి మెట్లు కు వెళ్లే ప్రతి బస్సు ఈ దారిలోనే వెళ్తుంది . తిరుపతి బస్సు స్టాండ్ నుంచి 3 కిమీ దూరం లో ఉంటుంది . ముందుగా కపిలతీర్థం వచ్చి తరువాత తిరుమల చేరుకోవాలని చెబుతారు .
